The 5 Reasons Your Kids Should Be Outside
1. Vitamins
Recent epidemiological (study of diseases) studies have found that spending time outside can:
- Increase levels of important Vitamin D
- Reduce risk of osteoporosis
- Reduce risk of cancer
- Reduce risk of depression
- Reduce risk of heart attack and stroke
2. Emotions
Simply being outside has been proven to relax and calm people under stress as well as cheer up those who aren't feeling their best. Spending as little as 30 minutes outside every day can greatly improve your mood!
3. Exercise
Everyone knows that you need to get some exercise every day, and there's no better way than doing it outside! Exercise has been proven to greatly reduce risk of disease and illness, improve your mood (no harm in repeating it) and leave in you much better shape.
4. Socialize
Humans need to interact with one another to thrive and you aren't going to meet people inside! Not only does engaging with others increase happiness, it also improves important communication skills.
5. Overexposure in TV and Movies
While there's nothing wrong with a little time in front of the TV, by age 18 children have been exposed to 200,000 acts of violence and 40,000 murders on screen. Time outdoors will keep your child happy and full of light thoughts!
